Pediatric Registered Dietitian
Lara Field, MS, RD, LDN is a pediatric expert with more than a decade of clinical experience at top-ranked pediatric hospitals, including the University of Chicago Medical Center and Lurie Children’s Hospital. Lara is a wife and mom of two boys, living the life of a busy parent just like many of her clients!
Not surprisingly to those who know her, Lara has always made eating right a top priority for her busy family. As one dedicated to not allowing hustle and bustle to compromise the quality of her own family’s eating, Lara knew years ago that she could help other families and individuals cope with their own health issues. Lara assists clients with time-strapped lifestyles to successfully manage health conditions, food and weight issues, and overall healthy lifestyles that are medically sound, enjoyable, and actually work. That’s why she founded FEED in 2008.
Lara knows that much of the information we get about food and diet comes from the food industry instead of medical and health professionals. As the founder of FEED, Lara’s made it her mission to cut through the “food noise,” both one-on-one with clients and also as a regular guest on Chicago TV news programs and as a speaker at nutrition and medical conferences. Lara received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and completed her Master of Science in clinical nutrition from Rush University. She completed additional specialized pediatric training at the Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.
Pediatric Nutrition Specialist
A specialist in pediatric nutrition, Lara has completed additional coursework managing food allergies and has specialized training in pediatric nutritional care, including clinical experience at the intensive care unit and pediatric gastroenterology and (liver-focused) hepatology clinics. Lara proudly serves as a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is active with the Chicago Dietetic Association and the Chicago Food and Nutrition Network.
She lives in Chicago with her husband and their two sons. Her active lifestyle includes running – she’s completed three marathons – and at home, she loves cooking for her family and testing new recipes.
WHAT IS A “RD”?
A Registered Dietitian is a food and nutrition expert who has completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and coursework approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; successfully completed an internship or accredited supervised practice program at a healthcare facility, community agency, or foodservice corporation; passed a national examination; and who keeps up to date with annual continuing educational requirements.
